NWCOA is a nonprofit, professional trade association devoted to the development of the wildlife damage management industry and those individual wildlife control operators who practice this trade. NWCOA supports and promotes professional standards within the wildlife damage management industry and has developed a professional certification program to evaluate the education and professional experience of wildlife control operators.
Certification recognizes those who have demonstrated a wealth of both “hands-on” field experience and an exposure to a variety of industry related training programs. Candidates for certification must be able to establish no less than three years of professional practice, along with a minimum of 100 credit hours of board approved training courses and seminars in the categories of Wildlife Biology and Animal Handling, Technical Methods and Equipment, and Human Health, Safety and Community Relations. In addition, candidates agree to adhere to a strict code of ethics relating to wildlife and business practices.
The primary objective of the NWCOA certification program is to provide clients, both public and private, and employers more positive access to professional advice in matters concerning wildlife damage management. The program also serves to identify those individuals who have demonstrated expertise in the art and science of sound resolution of wildlife conflict with humans.
